Note to the Community

Dear Maie Ellis Families,

I am delighted to again serve as Principal at Maie Ellis Elementary School, a Dual Language Academy. All of us at Maie Ellis are excited and eager to begin the 2024-2025 school year with our families, students, and staff, and to continue providing learning experiences that are rigorous, relevant, and meaningful. I am committed to working with the staff, teachers, parents, and students to provide safe, supportive, innovative, and engaging learning opportunities where students will grow as individuals, academically, and prepare them with the skills they need as lifelong learners and bilingual leaders.

The MISSION of MEE is to provide a bilingual academic approach, giving our students greater opportunities while educating them in a positive socio-cultural learning environment and instilling leadership skills to be successful in a globally competitive world.

Our VISION is that all students will be high achieving bilingual, biliterate leaders, with positive socio-cultural values.

We are a vibrant and diverse school community that cares deeply about children and who they grow up to be in the world. Our talented faculty and staff serve as mentors, facilitators, and coaches. They challenge students to explore, read, imagine, write, create, and compute so that they have the breadth and depth of experience to become confident and informed scholars and leaders, who are biliterate and bilingual. We challenge and encourage students to make connections between their studies and the real world.

However, we could not do it without the support of our amazing families. You are an important part of your child’s education, and working alongside you allows us to create a successful learning community. Parent involvement is also an important part of student success. There are many ways to participate, such as becoming a member of PTSA, joining ELAC, attending our Coffee and Conversation and school workshops, but most importantly, you can also talk to your child about what they are learning and how you can help. Communication and collaboration with you are key to supporting our students. We provide many opportunities for you to connect with your child’s teacher, our staff, and the administration to stay updated with information, as well as opportunities for you to share your thoughts, feedback, and ask questions. Please do not hesitate to contact me, our assistant principal, Cathy Hernandez, or your child’s teacher.

We look forward to the 2024-2025 school year with great enthusiasm and excitement! Please remember that we are here to support our families and students in any way we can. We are all in this together, and we thank you for the opportunity to work with you and your children.

Respectfully,
Claudia D’Leon
Principal
